Snoop Dogg just became Hip-Hop’s final boss in real life –  In June of 2021, it was announced that the Hip-Hop superstar would be taking on the role of executive creative + strategic consultant for Def Jam recordings. Today the news broke that the Dogg boss acquired the label that helped start his career, Death Row Recordings.

“Death Row Records” was famously known for its part of the West Coast/East Coast War rap wars of the 1990s. The label was founded in 1992 by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, the D.O.C., and Dick Griffey. The label released many platinum hip-hop albums including Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle, and Tupac’s album, All Eyez on Me. At its peak, Death Row was reportedly grossing over US$100 million annually in revenue.

Today, Death Row’s official Instagram profile posted an image with the caption, “Ownership. @snoopdogg” solidifying the news. Congratulations big boss.
